The Spartans missed another scoring chance when tight end Jack Velling fumbled inside the red zone. Shortly after, linebacker Jordan Turner intercepted Howard, setting up Chiles’ touchdown pass to Glover, narrowing the deficit to 10-7.
However, Ohio State’s offense quickly answered with a reverse touchdown run by Jeremiah Smith, putting them up 17-7. A missed facemask call during Chiles’ red zone fumble sparked boos from the crowd.
